Loftia tool upgrades

Short answer

Most Loftia tool upgrades take two steps: a Research Station bundle teaches the recipe, then you craft it at the Project Station. Hammer Lv.2 needs the Heavy-Weight Titans bundle at Central Lake, then Project Station Lv.2.

Why guides disagree about the station

Some guides say you upgrade the Hammer at a Research Station. Others say the Project Station. Both are half right. The Research Station teaches the recipe. The Project Station crafts it. You also need the matching station level.

Best upgrade order

  1. Battery Lv.2. It is cheap, needs no bundle, and doubles your charges.
  2. Project Station Lv.2. The Anadromous Odyssey bundle teaches it. Nearly every mid-game recipe needs it.
  3. Hammer Lv.2 and Pruners Lv.2. They open rocks, trees, bamboo and mushrooms.
  4. Battery Lv.3. Elemental Earth uses materials you will already be gathering.
  5. Museum bundles. Hammer Lv.3, Pruners Lv.3 and Rail Boots come last.

This order is our recommendation, based on what each recipe requires.

The Wrench is a quest item, not a recipe. In Keeping the Lights On, Mita sends you to clear trash piles, and one of them holds Milo's spare wrench Game data. You use it to fix broken objects, which trains the Repairing skill Game data.
