- Reach the Hanging Gardens and complete Field Research.
- Start Notes From the Fauna with Joanna.
- Find 5 clues to the dog's whereabouts, then make sure the dog is well-fed Game data.
- Report back to Joanna for the Basic Habitat recipe.
- Craft the Basic Habitat at Project Station Lv.2 with 2 Flexible Lumber, 2 Resin and 2 Jute Fabric. It costs 10 energy.

Free pets and paid pets
- Free: pets you unlock by playing Steam staff.
- Kickstarter: Wheelie and Waddle came from the campaign Steam staff.
- Paid: Greeny, a robot pet, comes with the Supporter Pack and the Growing Together Bundle Official.
Pet Habitat limits
You start with room for one habitat. More need a permit: 500 Dew for 2, 2,500 Dew and 10 Bloom for 3, then 5,000 Dew and 25 Bloom for 4 Game data. See all permits.

How do you get a pet in Loftia?
Progress to the Hanging Gardens and finish Notes From the Fauna for Joanna, which teaches the Basic Habitat recipe. Pets can be unlocked in-game for free.
Are Loftia pets only sold in the store?
No. Steam forum staff say you can unlock pets for free by playing. Wheelie and Waddle came from the Kickstarter, and Greeny comes with the Supporter Pack.
Can you have more than one pet in Loftia?
Yes. You can own multiple pets, but only the one you equip follows you around the world.
